Begun as a companion for a course on the themes explored herein, this educational website functions as an image repository for works of Early Modern Italian art created between the years 1260 and 1675 that explore issues of alterity. Works considered here feature, were created by, or were created under the patronage of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), LGBTQ+ individuals, and women.

The Thematic Galleries offer a chronological overview of the works selected for inclusion in this site from its inception. A Digital Features area, showcasing the research, writing, and visual presentation of these works and their stories by the students of Dr. Adam Rudolphi, the originator of this project and designer and maintainer of this site, is coming soon.
